How to Get Your Kids Out of Shorts When Summer is Over

Kids love the carefree comfort of wearing shorts all summer. They like them so much it can be difficult to get them out of shorts when the chilly fall season arrives. Kids tend to want  to wear shorts until the first snowfall but they wind up catching a cold long before that happens. You want to protect their health and ensure they are properly dressed for the weather. How can you get them to ditch the shorts and face the fall?

Break them in slowly. Encourage your daughter to wear skorts, then longer skirts and finally a favorite pair of jeans. It might take a week or so to get them into wearing warmer clothes. It also helps to go shopping online or at the store to help them find a few fashion-forward pieces they can't wait to wear.

Boys might be more difficult since they like to play sports. Wean them into wearing longer shorts then invest in couple of pair of light cotton pants to pair with long-sleeved tees. Encourage them to wear nylon sweatpants and then get them into a pair of jeans. Make sure boys and girls have a couple of warm fleece sweatshirts to toss on for chilly days. Hoodies are a popular choice, especially if they have a designer name or ironic saying on the front.

How to Stay Warm in Dress Clothes During the Fall

The sultry days of summer are over but you're not ready to get rid of your sleeveless maxi dresses yet. Unfortunately, wearing them seems unlikely when you face a chilly fall evening. You can still slip into your favorite sexy evening dress without getting a cold. Find a sensational cover-up to wear when you go out to parties and dinners.

A bolero is a short jacket with long sleeves. A bolero is  particularly flattering when you wear an evening dress with a high waist. It can also add dimension and a definitive waistline to a free flowing dress. These short jackets are ideal as the summer turns into fall.

Another option is a slub cotton cardigan. These are ideal as we head into October and feel more of a chill in the air. The cotton is see-through for a seductive look that doesn't detract from your alluring evening dress. Cotton is warm but breathes so you feel comfortable.

When the evenings get a bit nippy, slip into a fancy shawl. Choose from loosely knit or crocheted designs in a rainbow of colors. You can even dress up your look with a shawl made with glittering metallic threads.
